Code Enforcement
The City of Davis Code Enforcement division works to keep our community safe, clean, and looking its best. By enforcing city ordinances, Code Enforcement helps protect public health and property values while improving the overall quality of life for residents. Common issues addressed include overgrown grass and weeds, junk or debris buildup, abandoned vehicles, and unsafe or run-down buildings. Through education and cooperation, the department’s goal is to help property owners stay in compliance and take pride in keeping Davis a beautiful and welcoming place to live.
I’ve received a Code Enforcement Notice, Now What?
If you receive communication or a notice from the City of Davis Code Enforcement Officer, it’s important to respond promptly. Following receipt of notice, please work with the Code Enforcement Officer toward timely resolution by calling or emailing immediately to let the officer know you received your notice and to share what actions you plan to take. If a resident or business has not resolved an issue within 10–15 days (depending on the issue), a citation will be issued. Residents or businesses who receive Code Enforcement Citations will be required to appear in court unless the issue has been resolved beforehand. Each week beyond the citation that a violation remains unresolved may result in additional fines. Our office’s goal is to work cooperatively with the community to maintain compliance, promote public safety, and keep Davis a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
