Homecoming: A Tradition That Brings Us Together

Homecoming is more than a parade or a pep assembly. It is a time to celebrate school pride, reconnect with friends and neighbors, and welcome Davis alumni back home for Alumni Weekend.

On Friday, October 23, downtown Davis came alive with homecoming excitement as students, families, alumni, and community members gathered to celebrate the Davis Wolves and the traditions that bring our community together.

Downtown Preparations and Community Support

Homecoming spirit extended beyond the parade route. Downtown Davis received some extra attention thanks to community members who volunteered their time, shared resources, and helped brighten the area for alumni and visitors returning home.

Jordyn Romine provided intersection banners, secured donations of pansies, donated mums, and organized volunteers to spruce up downtown flowerbeds. Josh Suther picked up and delivered flowers and also donated and delivered pumpkins.

Volunteers Nancy Bingman, Sarah Digby, Jessica Womack, Shane Moss, Kelsey Lee, Tyler Gay, and Samuel Suther joined Josh and Jordyn, along with City Manager Susie Suther, to help plant flowers and beautify downtown.

Their generosity and hard work helped make Davis look its best for Homecoming and Alumni Weekend.

City Pride in Action

Preparing for a community event takes teamwork, and City of Davis departments were proud to help make the homecoming parade safe and successful.

The Davis Police Department led the parade and coordinated safety logistics. Davis Public Works provided barricades, cones, and street support, while the Davis Volunteer Fire Department joined the celebration by bringing Wolfie, the cheerleaders, and Sparky through the parade and helping block highway intersections to support public safety.

Events like Homecoming remind us that Davis is more than a place to live. It is a community built on shared memories, local traditions, and people who continue to care about the place they call home. In Davis, Community isn't just something we talk about. It's something we show up for.
